As the title suggests, I am a family man first, then a professional man. I have an awesome wife, six children, and one more on the way. We have a BIG family, but it's awesome. I never find myself with nothing to do, or bored.
Secondly I am a professional man, meaning I work for a living, and don't have a rich uncle feeding me cash (wouldn't that be cool). My name is Michael Silva, but I have choosen to go by MikePixel most places around the net, just because it is nearly impossible to get any combination of my real name anywhere on the net.
I won't go into to much detail about my professional life here because this is my personal website, so here is a quick overview of my professional endeavors. I have two jobs at the moment. I work as the web developer/designer at a non profit organization in Seattle WA, and I am the president of CornerPixel LLC.
CornerPixel is a small business striving to provide websites to anyone who wants a pressence on the internet. CornerPixel started out focusing mainly on small businesses and their needs to have a manageble website that didn't require an in-house webmaster. This was accomplished through "Content Management Systems" (CMS's) that after setup, design and build was completely manageble by the small business. The two CMS's that CornerPixel uses most are DotNetNuke and MindTouch.
CornerPixel does a bunch of other stuff, but you can find out more by visiting the website.
Everyone has a blog right? Why can't I have one too?
It took me a few days to get it all the way I wanted, but I now have a blog! Yeah, I know everyone in creation has one, but I figured I could add more junk to the pile! As you see on the left there is a link to my blog. I used BlogEngine.NET for my blog application and I think I made a good choice. My CornerPixel blog is using an older version of DasBlog which is good, but I wanted to try out something different so I went with BE. So far I am happy with the result.
I also got the blog all hooked up to Windows Live Writer, and FeebBurner, so I am happy for now.
More Time: Sleep Change to PolyPhasic "Everyman" Sleep Schedule
With the big family I have, and the work I have on my plate, I found I didn't have enough time to accomplish all I wanted to accomplish. I was wishing I had more time. I was trying to wake up at 2:30 am, but I rarely woke up because I was tired and pushing snooze was just that easy.
I have a friend who stumbled upon the PolyPhasic "Uberman" Sleep Schedule and told me about it. When I heard I could get away with 2 hours of sleep, I thought, "Where do I sign up!!!!"
Long story short, I tried the Uberman schedule and it didn't quite work. When I get the blog up you will be able to see what happened to me. I still wanted to change my sleep patterns, so I tried another PolyPhasic method called "Everyman" It uses one 3 hour sleep and 3 20 minute naps throughout the day to accomplish a 4 hour sleep day instead of eight.
I am not going to go any further, because I am started my documentation on how the Everyman schedule is working for me, and I don't want to ruin any surprises.
Oh Ya, on the Left ... <-- over there
I have some quick links on the left, but I am sure you saw them already. For starters, I am only providing Twitter as a social way to communicate to me at first. I will eventually add Facebook, FriendFeed, my email (a cool form for you to fill out maybe even), and some other goodies.
Who knows, I might even link to my old class reunion site! Okay probably not.
