I am recovering from my bout with food poisoning, but my stomach is still churning.  I sure do hate that feeling.

I did however, start back up on Everyman 3 polyphasic sleep, and though I am tired, I am glad to have my time back.

To lighten the mood a little I have a funny video I found on polyphasic that I would like to share.  The movies great, and their website has some good info. http://www.kurtiseckstein.com

This is funny, check out their website though for good info

Polyphasic Sleep: Food Poisoning

by MikePixel

Polyphasic Sleep Times for January 7th 2010.

02:00 – 09:00  --  Core Sleep (7 hrs 0 min)
12:30 – 12:50  --  1st Nap  --  (20 min)
16:17 – 16:37  --  2nd Nap  --  (0 min)
21:40 – 22:00  --  3rd Nap  --  (0 min)

Total Sleep  --  7 hrs 20 minutes
Total Awake  --  16 hrs 40 minutes

-------------------------------------------------

The 7th was awful.  My wife, three of my kids and I all got food poisoning.  I ended up oversleeping during my core sleep.  I am not too worried about it, because I felt horrible.

The other thing is I got up several times during the core sleep to attend sick kids, that I don’t know for sure how many hours I actually slept.

This day was a failure, but I don’t feel too bad about it.  I am starting to feel better and am back on my polyphasic – everyman 3 schedule again.

Below are my hours for the year/month.

Polyphasic: Tired and Drinking Green Tea

by MikePixel

Polyphasic Sleep Times for January 6th 2010.

02:00 - 05:15  --  Core Sleep (5 hrs 15 min)
12:07 – 12:27  --  1st Nap  --  (20 min)
16:17 – 16:37  --  2nd Nap  --  (20 min)
21:40 – 22:00  --  3rd Nap  --  (20 min)

Total Sleep  --  4 hrs 15 minutes
Total Awake  --  19 hrs 45 minutes

-------------------------------------------------

As I am typing this, I am a fair bit tired.  When I awoke from my night nap at 10pm tonight I thought there was no way I would make it through until my core sleep, but I am doing a little better.

The nice thing about the “Everyman 3” is that the sleep deprivation is much less than the  “Uberman” or “Dymaxion” sleep schedules.

Okay I was going to talk about tea, and more specifically green tea.

A couple days ago I was thinking about the sick period I just went through and ways I can improve my health so that I don’t get sick again anytime soon.  I had heard many places that sugar weakens your immune system so I decided that I was going to stop adding sugar to my coffee.

I bet your asking, “Why is he writing about coffee?”  Okay I was drinking one cup of caffeinated coffee every morning in order to get me through my 30 minute drive to work.  In my coffee I have 3 tsp of sugar.  Then when I got to work I would have 3 cups of decaffeinated coffee with 3 tsp of sugar per cup.  That REALLY adds up to a lot of sugar a day.

On top of that, I was having a cup or two of decaffeinated coffee at night.   That’s six more tsp of sugar.  Bad, bad, bad.

Okay so I decided I would drink my coffee without sugar.  Oh man what a horrid taste.  So I figured why even bother drinking the decaff coffee that I normally drink during the day because I wasn’t getting anything out of it because I hated the taste.

The issue I was now having was that I like hot drinks.  I missed having a hot cup in my hands, so I decided with a friends help to switch to green tea (no sugar) to replace all those cups of decaff I was drinking during the day.  My friend Googled all the good things about green tea and got me excited to try it.

I found that the green tea didn’t taste too bad, and at least it was healthy for me, so I could put up with the imperfect taste.

I have also decided to drop my morning caffeine and replace it with green tea.  I will see how that goes.  In my opinion it will just be better not to have caffeine at all if possible.  My one cup in the morning probably didn’t effect me since I have 7 hours of awake time between my core sleep and my first nap, but if I can do without the caffeine, I should at least give it a try.

On one last note, I’ve found that if I bring something for me to much on in the car while I’m commuting to work, I have very little problems staying awake.

Okay I have rambled too long.  Below is my monthly polyphasic totals.  Happy Polyphasic to you all.

Feeling Better, but Tired

by MikePixel

Sleep Times for January 5th 2010.

00:15 - 05:15  --  Core Sleep (5 hrs)
12:23 – 12:58  --  1st Nap  --  (0 min)

Total Awake  --  18 hrs 40 minutes

-------------------------------------------------

I don’t feel sick anymore thankfully.  I went back to my polyphasic sleep last night.  The time for the 5th doesn’t reflect it as much because I slept the entire night of the fourth, but I am back on my schedule.

I am a little tired this morning, but I think I will be okay.  Tomorrow I will talk a little about my switch from caffeine.  I think I am going to do it.

Green Tea, here I come.

Hoping I’m not sick again

by MikePixel

Sleep Times for January 4th 2010.

02:30 - 05:30  --  Core Sleep (3 hrs)
12:23 – 12:58  --  1st Nap  --  (35 min)
21:30 – 22:00  --  2nd Nap  --  (30 min)
22:15 – 24:00  --  3rd Nap  --  (1 hr 45 min)

Total Sleep  --  5 hrs 50 minutes
Total Awake  --  18 hrs 20 minutes

-------------------------------------------------

Today’s schedule looks a little weird because I think I am coming down with a cold again.  My daughter was coughing and had a stuffy nose, and I noticed that I was also starting to cough last night.

I am very worried that I will get another cold and be knocked out of polyphasic sleep again, so I slept all night.

You will also notice that two of my naps were 30 minutes plus.  My lunch nap was that way by accident.  I overslept because I set my alarm wrong.  The second nap (my night nap) was 30 minutes because I missed my afternoon nap.

My theory is that, it is the same as getting three 20 minute naps.  I am not sure if that really adds up, but mathematically it does.

The other thing is, I felt awesome after my 35 minute noon nap.  Not sure, and I woke up on my own.  I am not sure what that means, but it is interesting.
