As I am typing this, I am a fair bit tired. When I awoke from my night nap at 10pm tonight I thought there was no way I would make it through until my core sleep, but I am doing a little better.
The nice thing about the “Everyman 3” is that the sleep deprivation is much less than the “Uberman” or “Dymaxion” sleep schedules.
Okay I was going to talk about tea, and more specifically green tea.
A couple days ago I was thinking about the sick period I just went through and ways I can improve my health so that I don’t get sick again anytime soon. I had heard many places that sugar weakens your immune system so I decided that I was going to stop adding sugar to my coffee.
I bet your asking, “Why is he writing about coffee?” Okay I was drinking one cup of caffeinated coffee every morning in order to get me through my 30 minute drive to work. In my coffee I have 3 tsp of sugar. Then when I got to work I would have 3 cups of decaffeinated coffee with 3 tsp of sugar per cup. That REALLY adds up to a lot of sugar a day.
On top of that, I was having a cup or two of decaffeinated coffee at night. That’s six more tsp of sugar. Bad, bad, bad.
Okay so I decided I would drink my coffee without sugar. Oh man what a horrid taste. So I figured why even bother drinking the decaff coffee that I normally drink during the day because I wasn’t getting anything out of it because I hated the taste.
The issue I was now having was that I like hot drinks. I missed having a hot cup in my hands, so I decided with a friends help to switch to green tea (no sugar) to replace all those cups of decaff I was drinking during the day. My friend Googled all the good things about green tea and got me excited to try it.
I found that the green tea didn’t taste too bad, and at least it was healthy for me, so I could put up with the imperfect taste.
I have also decided to drop my morning caffeine and replace it with green tea. I will see how that goes. In my opinion it will just be better not to have caffeine at all if possible. My one cup in the morning probably didn’t effect me since I have 7 hours of awake time between my core sleep and my first nap, but if I can do without the caffeine, I should at least give it a try.
On one last note, I’ve found that if I bring something for me to much on in the car while I’m commuting to work, I have very little problems staying awake.
Okay I have rambled too long. Below is my monthly polyphasic totals. Happy Polyphasic to you all.
